Estuary, before the tide turned

Portra 400, mostly. Taken while waiting for someone who did not come, and better for it.

PHOTOGRAPHY

Six frames, all within about forty minutes, all from the same twenty metres of path above the waterline. I had arrived early for someone who, it turned out, was not coming, and rather than leave I walked up and down the same stretch until the light went.

The tide was still going out. What I wanted was the moment where the wet sand stops behaving like ground and starts behaving like sky — a thing you can see happening but cannot really point at.

Portra is too forgiving for this. It wants everything to be pleasant. Half of these are pleasant in a way I did not mean.

The two that work are the ones where I stopped composing. Which is an annoying lesson to be handed for the fourth or fifth time.
